Herb Benefits

Red Clover Blossoms (Trifolium pratense)

Each red clover has four leaves, making it a symbol of luck and happiness since medieval times. It's cross-like shape was once a popular symbol in Christianity as well. Today, it is well-known for its ability to buffer the effects of reductions in estrogen due to having a high amount of isoflavones. Red clover is also known to reduce hot flashes, vaginal dryness, PMS symptoms stemming from hormonal imbalances. In addition, it detoxifies the liver and cleanses the blood, so it helps with elimination.

Nettle Leaves (Urtica dioica)

Nettle has one of the highest levels of chlorophyll among plants. It is nutrient-rich, packed with vitamins A, B2, C, and K, calcium, iron, and potassium. Its high iron content combats tiredness and anemia. Nettle is beloved by women because it strengthens bones, hair, nails, and teeth.

Orange Peel (Citrus spp.)

In addition to its refreshing taste and Vitamin C, orange peel aids in lowering cortisol, a stress hormone. It also helps our bodies make collagen (a protein that heals wounds), so we can more readily absorb iron and boost the immune system. Also, orange peel helps reduce the desire for sugar, which is very helpful during perimenopause. Finally, orange is a stimulant that increases the effect of all herbs in a formula and serves as a flavor balancer.

Herb Descriptions

Raspberry Leaf (Rubus idaeus)

Red raspberry is used to help those who have painful cramps and heavy bleeding during menstruation. It is an excellent source of bioavailable calcium, so it is more easily absorbed into the body. In addition, raspberry leaves are nutrient rich, containing vitamins A, C, E, and B, iron, magnesium, and manganese. Bonus: it helps reduce blood sugar levels, too.

Comfrey Leaves (Symphytum officinale)

Comfrey is used to modulate inflammation and decrease musculoskeletal pain, especially in the back.

Lavender Flowers (Lavandula angustifolia)

The soft floral scent of lavender is unmistakable. Its aroma alone decreases stress. Lavender flowers are known for their ability to alleviate irritability, restlessness, insomnia, and depression.

Ashwagandha Root (Withania somnifera)

As an essential herb in Ayurvedic medicine, Ashwagandha calms and rejuvenates the nervous system. As an adaptogen, it protects the body from the negative impact of stress while supporting the immune and adrenal systems. It is also anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving, helping to promote restful sleep. The cherry on top is that it supports healthy blood-sugar metabolism and helps with memory loss.

Tips

Considerations

Shake well before each use. Settling is normal.

  • Use 1 teaspoon of herbs per cup (8oz) of water.

  • Place herbs in a mug or tea infuser (preferable).

  • Heat water to just before boiling and pour over herbs. Cover and let steep for 15-20 minutes.

  • Strain and enjoy.

Teas can be refrigerated for up to 48 hours.

You can add more herbs to make a stronger tea.

  • For optimum flavor, use distilled or spring water.

  • Enjoy 2+ cups daily for at least seven consecutive days to achieve full benefits.

  • Loose leaf herbs (such as this one) can be reused the same day. The flavor profile will change, but many people prefer their second or third brew! Add a little more of the herbs to each additional blend and see what happens!

  • Store herbs in airtight containers in cool, dark places.

  • Best when used within 1 year of opening. After a year, let your nose and eyes be your guide. Over time, more of the blend is needed to have the same effect.

  • This is not recommended for children.

  • Do not use during pregnancy or lactation without the advice of a qualified healthcare practitioner.

★★★★★

“I enjoy this body lotion and its scent. It leaves my skin smooth, but wish it was more moisturizing. My skin is very dry and it helps, but it does not eliminate dryness completely.”
